We fit a lot of crazyness and wet into the past weekend! We went all over town in and out of the rain! Thursday we biked all over the city, roughly 16 miles of biking.
We stopped at the new Tattered Cover Bookstore. Which changed from the Cherry Creek Mall area to their new place in the ol Lowenstein Theatre @ Colfax. It was great and there was also delicious free pastries to be had cooked by a chef from the south of France! Num Num!
After the bookstore we headed to one of the 3 best comic shops in Colorado, All in a Dream. I wanted to see if they had the first Issue of Hellboy’s Makoma story. Which they did and which is also a very cool comic. Nice story and even better art! How can you go wrong with Mike Mignola AND Richard Corben! So yes, Hellboy was illustrated very handsomely and he spent most the entire series in a skimpy African loincloth! WOOT! So Pick this series up, it’s worth it!
After that we hit a local Ice cream shop, which had a Baklava Ice Cream! Now this was crazy good, especially if you like Baklava, and the piece of Baklava was GINORMOUS! Eric had a delicious combination of Strawberry and Sherbet.
Next we went to my brothers place. This by far was the longest trek and mostly uphill how unfair! When we got their we found the sugar bowl that we needed only to find it was much to small to use, though the trip wasn’t wasted either because my bro has this crazy cool Koi Pond he built in the backyard where you can relax and watch fish.
After that we went Down Havana and then right through the bike path that leads by one of the coolest cemeteries in Denver the Fairmount Mortuary. This was mostly all down hill and an easy scenic and cool ride.
Once back to the apartment we got ready to go out again to Gallery XZanthia a cool little place that just started a kind of art Night every Thursday, though I still think our Local Furry Sketch night is way better. The Gallery was pretty cool, with some very cool art all over and some guys painting and scrapping together some odd collages. Including my brother and his girlfriend who were both making some very cool pieces of art. However, most the time I spent was upstairs looking for porn! Well Xzanthia told me there was some up their and I was free to it, but I never found it in the mess of their closet. The only thing I found was some Maxim Magazines and a cute cat that was just as curious as I was! But the upstairs was like a big apartment loft! It would be cool to own a gallery like that!
The rest of the weekend was equally packed with crazy happenings. Friday I spent some time on the piece of Bat art I uploaded just a few days previously and later we went down Santa Fe in the rain and browsed all the Galleries that do Open house during the First Friday of each month! We saw some crazy gallery that had those weird Munny dolls and they had tons of different crazy ones. Then back to Xzanthia’s because they had some DJs and music which we danced to a little bit.
Over the weekend we somehow ended up in some other world, or maybe travelled through time! Well we went to this place called Paris on the Platte some 4-5 years ago, and now the area is this super rich super classy art deco neighborhood. Very alien compared to the rest of the area. Later on we snuck out to one of the local Spa’s which has an outdoor Jacuzzi. Outdoor Jacuzzi’s are awesome when the air has a chill and theres is some light rain. And to close the weekend and bring an end to the rain, we closed ourselves up on the dungeon and did some heavy monkey loveing!
